ASIMO at OSU
Though checking out this description (scroll about halfway down) of the event, even had I gone it would have been standing room only. Some 4,000 fellow robot nuts like myself packed into a cramped 600 seat section of the Drake Performance Center to see ASIMO shake it's groove thang.
Fortunately there's google video. This clip shows the complete presentation, including spoken intros by someone at OSU and a fellow from Honda. ASIMO makes his/her/its appearance at about 6:30 in this 37-minute video.

(Page 1)2. Hi Matt, the ASIMO has an acronym, but it's named after Isaac Asimov, the famous SF writer who coined the 'Three Laws of Robotics' and wrote about robots a lot in his fiction. You may remember the Wil Smith 'I, Robot' movie that was very, very, very loosely based on Asimov's book that came out not too long ago...

3. I went to see Asimo when he was here in Columbus and he was very, very cool. I had to stand along the side wall, but was glad to be there. I came out of the preso wanting one in my house--you know, 'Asimo, to get me a beer and vacuum the carpet.' Robots are going to be a huge business one day. One big problem is power: Asimo only runs for about 30 minutes before they have to charge him back up.
I gotta ask why it's posted now when the appearance was about a year ago?

4. Because I have apparently have trouble reading dates. Someone forwarded it to me as if it happened more recently. Sorry about that!

1. The name of the robot is strikingly close to a particular robot on a South Park episide. Cartman creates a robot costume out of cardboard boxes and pretends he is a robot with the name of AWESOME-O.
